New Parent Background Check Requirement for Field Trips!
Parents, if you or any family members (i.e. grandparents, siblings, etc.) plan to chaperone any field trips this year, it is very important that you visit your school's office or our central office for submission of a Child Abuse and Neglect (CAN) background check. This differs from the administrative office of the courts (AOC) criminal background check in that it would show any substantiated child abuse or neglect found by the Department of Community Based Services that wouldn't necessarily show up on a criminal background check. Unlike the AOC check in which results can often be obtained the same day, the CAN checks do take much longer which is why we want to encourage you to get your CAN check as soon as possible if being a field trip chaperone is a possibility for you this year. To complete the CAN check process, please bring one of the following: your driver's license, social security card, birth certificate or ID card. If you have any questions, please contact your school's office or email Garet Wells at email@example.com. Thank you.
